He presented his Master's Thesis, "Suspended on a Road from Here to There" on 8 May 2008. A graduate of NYU's College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) he received his B.A. in 2003, double majoring in Politics and Economics.

He is a former NYC Teaching Fellow having taught mathematics at Washington Irving High School from 2003 to 2005. He has written for Pop + Politics dot com, Wiretap and NY Arts Magazine on issues ranging from copyright law, technology and its effect on society to politics and the arts.

He continues to work with the video artist Tony Oursler on special projects. Their last collaboration was an online catalogue of Mr. Oursler's Studio: Seven Months of My Aesthetic Education (Plus Some) which debuted at the d'Orsay in Paris, France and traveled to the Metropolitan Museum of Art in NYC (Pravin was also a participant in the piece). He designed and developed the website for Mr. Oursler's career work which was featured at the Contemporary Arts Center in Cincinnati, Ohio. Through Dia he has collaborated with Rosa Barba, Barbara Bloom, Liliana Porter and Dorit Margreiter.

In early 2001, with Mary Guiteras and Dodd Loomis, Pravin founded SOLID HANG. SOLID HANG went on to produce Sam Shepard's La Turista and Terrence McNally's Bringing It All Back Home. Between these two full length plays, SOLID HANG also created a storytelling series that featured multiple artists. It ran for three episodes in New York City.

His own work has been displayed at Brookhaven National Laboratory in Brookhaven, New York, ITP and the CUNY Grad Center. His work has also been featured on infosthetics, We Make Money Not Art, Core77 and BlackBook Magazine Online.

He was most recently an Innovation Researcher at EdLab, Teachers College, Columbia University. A one-year position, Pravin was tasked with dreaming up, wireframing and prototyping web applications to solve education, publishing and education problems. While there he built:

  • The PocketKnowledge Viewer: an online gallery system for the Gottesman Library
  • a prototype for a Parent-Teacher Conference system
  • created wireframes and workflows for an inventory/user management system for small publishers and schools (prototype currently under construction)
  • redesigned the online presence of the Teachers College Record, NSSE (to be launched in the winter of 2009, and Jan-Feb 2010 respectively)
  • worked on a prototype and published a working paper to publish syllabi and share readings more easily (prototype to be launched Fall 2009)
  • wireframed and designed a tool that connects students and schools with non-profits and vice-versa (prototype currently under construction)

His next challenge is as an interaction designer at HUGE and continuing to grow GRND LAB with partners Justin Downs, Benedetta Piantella and Raphael Zollinger.
